At 8 years old, Sarah started playing violin in public elementary school. Quickly her teachers and parents noticed her potential and enrolled her in Peabody Preparatory where she studied classical violin, as well as classical voice, music theory, composition, and ballet.
After graduating high school and starting college, her love for the Renaissance Festival introduced her to folk music like sea shanties, traditional Irish tunes, and middle eastern belly dance style music. She volunteered as a musician for a Christmas Special show that featured some of the Maryland Renaissance Festival’s favorite acts. Shortly after, she was contacted by someone who was a member of Pirates for Sail, and asked if she wanted to join, as their fiddle player was moving away. She joined Pirates for Sail a month later, and through those connections joined every band she is currently in.
Very early on in her performing career, she discovered that music was her passion, nothing else could compete with that, and she decided to quit college, because she knew that any degree would not help her progress with the path that she wanted. She also learned scenic carpentry during her time in college and continues to do that work on the side.
